VEED Free Watermarks Everything and Stops at 720p
Three limits stack on a single export: resolution, length and a watermark burned into the pixels. The watermark is the one you cannot work around.
VEED free costs $0 with no time limit and includes browser editing, about 30 minutes of auto subtitles a month, screen recording and stock media. Exports cap at 720p with a burned-in watermark, projects are limited to 10 minutes, and storage is 2GB. Lite removes the watermark.1
Most free video editors pick one thing to restrict. VEED restricts resolution, length, storage and subtitles at once, which leaves very little of the workflow untouched.
What it does not restrict is the editing itself, and that is worth being fair about.
What the free plan actually includes
| Free | Lite | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $19/mo, $12 annual |
| Export resolution | 720p | 1080p |
| Watermark | Always | None |
| Project length | 10 minutes | 25 minutes |
| Storage | 2GB | More per seat |
| Auto subtitles | About 30 min/mo | Much higher |
| Subtitle translation | No | From Pro |
| AI generation | Very limited | More |
| Card required | No | Yes |
The editor, timeline, stock library and subtitle styles are all available. There is no artificial limit on how many videos you make, only on what comes out of them.
The watermark is burned in
The Made with VEED mark is rendered into the exported file at encoding time, in a corner of the frame. It cannot be repositioned, shrunk or removed on the free tier.
This is different from a template-based watermark that appears only when you use certain assets. Here it applies to every export, including exports of subtitles and screen recordings.
Upgrading later does not clean an old file. You reopen the project and export again on the paid plan, which means the fix is a re-render rather than a payment.
720p in 2026
720p is below what YouTube, Instagram and TikTok expect. Uploads at 720p look soft, and platform re-encoding makes them softer.
For an internal training video or a quick screen recording it is fine. For anything published, it reads as the free tier, which is exactly what the watermark is also doing.
1080p requires Lite. There is no per-export purchase and no credit pack that releases it.
Ten minutes per project
Longer than most short-form work and shorter than almost any podcast, webinar or interview.
It is a hard cap rather than a metered allowance, so you discover it when a project simply will not export, usually near the end of an edit.
Lite raises it to 25 minutes and Pro to 120, which tells you the design intent: free is for clips, paid is for content.
Subtitles are the reason people come
About 30 minutes of auto subtitle generation a month is a real allowance for short-form work, and the caption styling is good.
Translation is not included on free or Lite, so any multi-language workflow needs Pro. The full AI toolset, including avatars and text-to-video, is paid only, and generated AI video on free is capped at very short outputs.
When the free plan is enough
Adding captions to a short clip for a channel where the watermark is acceptable. Screen recordings that stay internal. Testing whether the browser editor suits you before paying for anything.
When it stops being enough
The first export for a client, or the first project that runs past ten minutes. Lite at $12 a month annually is the smallest fix and removes both the watermark and the resolution cap.
If a watermark on every single export is not survivable, CapCut takes the opposite approach: clean 1080p export unless a Pro-tagged asset enters the project.
