About this site

What eFree Directory publishes, how free-tier limits are verified, who writes it, and what we will not do.

eFree Directory documents what the free plan of a modern software tool actually gives you, what it holds back, and the point at which paying starts to make sense.

Most software reviews exist to sell the upgrade. The free tier is a footnote in them, because the commission is in the paid plan. That leaves one question almost impossible to answer from any single page on the web: what will this tool do for me without a card.

What we publish

One page per tool, called a Free Tier Report. It leads with the free plan's hard limits, states what upgrading unlocks, and names the moment the free plan stops being enough.

Every report records four things other reviews leave out: the numeric limits on the free plan, whether a card is required to start, what the free tier forbids commercially, and the date the limits were last checked.

How we verify

Every limit is read from the vendor's own pricing page or documentation and re-checked on a schedule. Each report carries a verification date at the bottom. If a limit changed and we have not re-checked it, the date makes that visible rather than hiding it.

We do not test tools by signing up with fabricated identities, and we do not quote limits from other review sites. When a vendor publishes a vague limit, we say it is vague rather than inventing a number.

What we will not do

No paid placements. No sponsor decides a ranking. If a paid plan is not worth the money we say so, and if a competitor's free tier is better we name it. Affiliate links, where they exist, are disclosed on the page that carries them.

We do not cover tools built to bypass academic-integrity systems, plagiarism, or AI detection. Those are not software reviews, and the claims they make cannot be verified.
