Editorial Policy

eFree Directory is an independent publication. No vendor has ever paid for a verdict on this site, and none will.

Independence

Rankings and verdicts are decided by the limits recorded in each report, not by commercial relationships. If a paid plan is poor value the report says so. If a competitor's free tier is better, the report names the competitor and links to it.

Vendors may contact us to correct a factual error. They cannot request a change to a conclusion.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. Where they exist, the page carrying them discloses it above the link. The commission, if any, is paid by the vendor and never by the reader.

An affiliate relationship does not affect which tools are covered, the order of a list, or the recorded limits. A tool with no affiliate programme is covered on the same terms as one with a generous one.

Corrections

Factual errors are corrected, and the report's verification date is updated when the correction changes a limit. Substantive corrections are noted at the foot of the page rather than made silently.

What we do not cover

We do not review tools whose purpose is to defeat academic-integrity systems, plagiarism detection or AI detection. Those products make claims that cannot be verified, and publishing them beside genuine software reviews would misrepresent what this site is for.

Authorship

Every article carries a named byline and links to that author's page. The three people who write here work in the areas they cover: developer tooling, AI assistants, and design software.
