MailerLite's Free Plan: 250 Subscribers, Two Seats, Real Automations
The smallest subscriber allowance here, paired with the most complete feature set at zero. MailerLite charges for volume, not for capability.
MailerLite's free plan covers 250 subscribers, 2,500 monthly emails and two user seats. Automations, one landing page, one digital product, one booking page and 100-plus integrations are all included. Community support only, no priority help, and Comfort at $10.80 a month yearly is the first tier that raises the subscriber ceiling.1
This is the reverse of Mailchimp's free tier. Both allow 250 subscribers, but MailerLite hands over the features and rations nothing except the list size.
The result is a free plan that is genuinely complete for a small list, and genuinely useless past 250 people.
What you actually get
| Free | Comfort | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $10.80/mo yearly |
| Subscribers | 250 | 500 |
| Monthly emails | 2,500 | 5,000 |
| User seats | 2 | 3 |
| Automations | Included | 50 automations |
| Landing pages | 1 | More |
| Digital products | 1 | Unlimited |
| Booking pages | 1 | Unlimited |
| Support | Community | Email and chat |
| Card required | No | Yes |
The paid ladder continues to Power at $22.50 monthly yearly, which removes the send cap, the automation cap and the seat cap entirely.
Ten sends a month is the real allowance
2,500 monthly emails divided by 250 subscribers is ten campaigns. That is a weekly newsletter with three to spare.
This is far more headroom than the subscriber number suggests. The 250 ceiling and the 2,500 send allowance are calibrated so a full list can mail ten times without hitting either limit.
Sending twice a week to a full list consumes 2,000 of the 2,500, which still leaves room for a welcome sequence.
Automations that actually run
This is where MailerLite separates from every other free tier in the category. Visual automations are included, not marked as a paid feature with an asterisk.
A welcome sequence, a product delivery flow and a re-engagement series can all be built on the free plan. Ghost, Zapier and the rest of this series are irrelevant here: the automation lives inside the email tool.
Two seats means a second person can work in the account, which most free tiers forbid. For a two-person business this matters more than the send allowance.
What is confined
One landing page, one digital product, one booking page. The products themselves are unlimited in value, but you cannot run two.
Community support means a forum and documentation, not a support queue. If something breaks an hour before a campaign, there is no one to email.
There is no priority delivery and no dedicated IP, both of which sit on higher tiers.
The absence of a dedicated IP matters less than it sounds at this size. Shared infrastructure is fine for a 250-person list; it becomes a deliverability question only when volume and complaint rates make a shared pool a risk.
How it compares
Mailchimp matches the 250 contact ceiling but offers 500 monthly sends and one seat, with automation largely paid.
Brevo stores 100,000 contacts and sends 300 a day, which is better for volume and worse for automation features.
Kit allows 10,000 subscribers free, which beats all of them on ceiling and loses on seat count.
MailerLite is the best free tier here for a small list that needs real automation and more than one person.
When it is enough
A new list under 250 that sends weekly, runs a welcome sequence, and needs a landing page and a lead magnet delivery. That is the entire free plan, and it is complete.
A two-person business where both people need account access, which rules out most free tiers immediately.
A creator selling one digital product who wants checkout and delivery inside the email tool rather than bolted on.
When it stops being enough
At subscriber 251. There is no wall that stops sending, but the plan no longer covers the list and Comfort is required.
The moment you need support with a deadline attached, since community-only means no guaranteed response.
When you want a second landing page or a second product, both of which are Comfort or higher.
