Suno Free Gives 50 Credits a Day and No Rights At All
Fifty credits a day sounds generous until you read the part about downloads. Free accounts get seven, ever, and none of them can be used commercially.
Suno free costs $0 and gives 50 credits a day, about ten songs, on the v6-mini model with a shared queue. There are no monthly downloads and no commercial rights, and accounts created before 3 September 2026 get seven lifetime trial downloads. Pro is $10 a month with 2,500 credits and commercial rights.1
Suno changed its terms on 3 September 2026 in a way that reorganised what free actually is, and most coverage has not caught up.
Generation is still generous. Access to the output is not.2
What the free plan actually includes
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $10/mo, $8 yearly |
| Credits | 50 per day | 2,500 per month |
| Songs, roughly | 10 per day | Up to 500 per month |
| Model | v6-mini | v6 and v6-wild |
| Downloads | 7 lifetime trial | 20 per month |
| Commercial rights | No | Yes, on downloaded songs |
| Stem separation | No | 2 types |
| Queue | Shared | Priority, 10 at once |
| Upload own audio | 8 minutes | 30 minutes |
Credits reset daily on free rather than monthly, which is a genuinely pleasant design. Yesterday's unused credits are gone, but a burst day never exhausts a monthly allowance.
Seven downloads, for the lifetime of the account
Under the terms effective 3 September 2026, free accounts created before that date received up to seven trial downloads, and they do not reset.
Accounts created after that date may occasionally receive trial downloads and can purchase more. Either way, trial downloads are never eligible for commercial use.
So the free plan lets you generate hundreds of songs and take almost none of them anywhere. Listening and sharing inside Suno's platform is the intended use.
The download is the licence
Commercial rights attach to a download taken through Suno's approved process on a paid plan, not to the act of generating.
That distinction is what makes the seven trial downloads so limiting. It is not that free songs sound different. It is that the right to use a song commercially is carried by the download slot, and free accounts do not get those slots with rights attached.
Upgrading does not fix history either. Suno states that a Pro or Premier subscription does not automatically grant retroactive rights to songs made on free, though it may offer them in specific cases.
v6-mini is the model most guides miss
Free uses v6-mini rather than the full v6. It is a real model and output quality is close, but it is the cheaper tier and slower in the shared queue.
If you are judging Suno by its best output, the free plan is not showing it to you. That is a fair thing to be annoyed about, and it is also why the $10 Pro tier reads as expensive for a trial rather than cheap for a tool.
What paid actually adds
Commercial rights, twenty downloads a month, the full model set, stem separation, a priority queue and the ability to buy extra credits.
Premier at $30 adds Suno Studio with MIDI and effects, 60 downloads, and three stem separation types.
For a hobbyist making music in the evening, free is a very good toy. For anyone who wants to distribute, Pro is not optional.
When the free plan is enough
You want to hear what the models do, or you make music for yourself and listen inside the app. Both are legitimate uses of a system that costs nothing.
When it stops being enough
The first time you want a file on your own drive. If the format you need is speech rather than music, ElevenLabs meters characters instead of songs. Pro at $10 a month is the answer, and the ElevenLabs free plan has an almost identical clause on its free tier, which suggests the category is settling on the same position: generation is cheap, rights are not.
