- Description: One of the widest free-tier video allowances on the market, sitting on top of a model that is paid-only for developers.

**Google Vids now runs on Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, and from 5 November 2026 anyone with a Google account or a Workspace subscription can generate up to three 15-second videos per month in Vids at no cost. The same model, in the Gemini API, has no free tier at all: input is $1.50 per million tokens and video output $12.00, which Google puts at roughly $0.07 per second of 720p, or about $1.04 for a 15-second clip.**[1](#sources)

That combination is worth understanding before you plan around free AI video. The most generous free allowance of the week is a consumer surface, and the developer route to the identical model is priced from the first second.[2](#sources)

**Prices measured on 27 October 2026.** Vendor plan terms, allowances and prices change without notice, so treat every figure on this page as a dated snapshot rather than a permanent fact. Where a number here differs from the vendor's own pricing page, the vendor's page is correct and the figure above is simply older than it.

The token maths is worth spelling out because it makes the allowance feel different. Billing runs at 5,792 tokens per second of 720p video. At $12 per million output tokens, a 10-second clip is about 70 cents and a 15-second clip about $1.04\. At 360p the rate drops to 1,931 tokens per second, so the same 15 seconds costs roughly 35 cents.

Three free clips a month is around $3.10 of equivalent API spend at 720p. That is a test drive rather than a subsidy worth engineering around.

## What the free tier actually lets you make

The Vids allowance is not a watermark-limited demo. The three clips are the real model, at the full 15 seconds, with native audio.

Google's examples are telling, because they are all business-shaped rather than consumer-shaped. Product promos in one pass without a cut. Reference images uploaded to keep characters and scenes consistent from first frame to last. Improved speech narration, which Google describes as making clips feel like something you recorded yourself.

That last point matters more than it reads. Native audio in a generated clip has been the part that breaks the illusion, and it is the part this release leads with.

## Where the free allowance runs out

Three videos a month is roughly one social post a week with a week off. If you are making shorts, promos or concept explainers at any cadence above that, you are through the allowance before the month has started.

Vids also sits behind a distinction that catches people out. The product is free to try, but Google states plainly that advanced features and expanded usage limits are for business users on Workspace plans and consumers on Google AI plans. So the ceiling comes from the plan rather than from the model.

For anyone who wants more than three clips, the choice is between upgrading a Workspace or AI subscription, or paying the API rate and building the workflow yourself. The API route has no minimum and no monthly commitment, which for a low-volume user can be cheaper than a subscription that bundles a limit you will not reach.

## The pattern, stated plainly

Google has spent this month moving the same model up and down its product line. [Gemini 4 Argon doubles in price on 1 December](https://efreedirectory.com/gemini-4-argon-price-doubles/). [Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash retire the same day](https://efreedirectory.com/gemini-2.5-retirement-routes-to-flash/). [The consumer free plan lost Flash and Pro on 9 October](https://efreedirectory.com/gemini-free-plan-limits/).

Against that, a free 15-second video generator inside a Workspace product looks generous. It is, and it is also the cheapest possible customer acquisition for a model that otherwise bills by the second. The consumer allowance sells subscriptions. The API rate sells infrastructure. Both are priced from the same chart, and the free tier appears on exactly one side of it.

The practical read for anyone evaluating this: if you want to know whether Omni 1.2 is good enough for your use case, three clips will tell you. If it is, the subscription is the cheap path to more of them, and the API is the expensive one until your volume is high enough for per-second billing to beat a flat fee.

## Frequently asked questions

**How many free videos does Google Vids allow?**
Three 15-second videos per month, for anyone with a Google account or Google Workspace subscription.

**Is Omni 1.2 Flash free in the Gemini API?**
No. It is available on the paid tier only, with no free allowance.

**What does an API clip cost?**
About $0.07 per second of 720p video, so roughly $1.04 for 15 seconds, or about $0.023 per second at 360p.

**Can I make longer videos?**
Not with this model. Omni 1.2 Flash generates and edits up to 15 seconds.

**Does the free Vids output have a watermark?**
Google does not describe a watermark on the free allowance; what it states is the three-video limit and that expanded limits require a Workspace or Google AI plan.

**Is my content used for training?**
On the API, paid-tier use is not used to improve Google's products while free-tier use is. Workspace terms govern Vids.
